נָתַ֣תִּי
nā·ṯat·tî
I have given
לָהֶ֔ם
lā·hem
them ,
אַשְׁלִ֖יךְ
’aš·lîḵ
and I will banish
מֵעַ֣ל
mê·‘al
from
פָּנָ֑י
pā·nāy
My presence
וְאֶת־
wə·’eṯ-
-
הַזֶּה֙
haz·zeh
this
הַבַּ֤יִת
hab·ba·yiṯ
temple
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
’ă·šer
-
הִקְדַּ֣שְׁתִּי
hiq·daš·tî
I have sanctified
לִשְׁמִ֔י
liš·mî
for My Name .
וְאֶתְּנֶ֛נּוּ
wə·’et·tə·nen·nū
I will make it
לְמָשָׁ֥ל
lə·mā·šāl
an object of scorn
וְלִשְׁנִינָ֖ה
wə·liš·nî·nāh
and ridicule
בְּכָל־
bə·ḵāl
among all
הָעַמִּֽים׃
hā·‘am·mîm
the peoples .
21 And when this temple has become a heap of rubble, all who pass by it will be appalled and say, ‘Why has the LORD done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’
הַזֶּה֙
haz·zeh
And [when] this
וְהַבַּ֤יִת
wə·hab·ba·yiṯ
temple
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
’ă·šer
-
הָיָ֣ה
hā·yāh
has become
עֶלְי֔וֹן
‘el·yō·wn
a heap of rubble ,
לְכָל־
lə·ḵāl
all
עֹבֵ֥ר
‘ō·ḇêr
who pass
עָלָ֖יו
‘ā·lāw
by it
יִשֹּׁ֑ם
yiš·šōm
will be appalled
וְאָמַ֗ר
wə·’ā·mar
and say ,
בַּמֶּ֨ה
bam·meh
‘ Why
יְהוָה֙
Yah·weh
has the LORD
עָשָׂ֤ה
‘ā·śāh
done
כָּ֔כָה
kā·ḵāh
such a thing
הַזֹּ֖את
haz·zōṯ
to this
לָאָ֥רֶץ
lā·’ā·reṣ
land
הַזֶּֽה׃
haz·zeh
and to this
וְלַבַּ֥יִת
wə·lab·ba·yiṯ
temple ? ’
22 And others will answer, ‘Because they have forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them—because of this, He has brought all this disaster upon them.’”
וְאָמְר֗וּ

And [others] will answer ,

‘al
‘ Because
אֲשֶׁ֨ר

עָֽזְב֜וּ
‘ā·zə·ḇū
they have forsaken
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
יְהוָ֣ה׀
Yah·weh
the LORD ,
אֱלֹהֵ֣י
’ĕ·lō·hê
the God
אֲבֹתֵיהֶ֗ם
’ă·ḇō·ṯê·hem
of their fathers ,
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
’ă·šer
who
הוֹצִיאָם֮
hō·w·ṣî·’ām
brought them
מֵאֶ֣רֶץ
mê·’e·reṣ
out of the land
מִצְרַיִם֒
miṣ·ra·yim
of Egypt ,
וַֽיַּחֲזִ֙יקוּ֙
way·ya·ḥă·zî·qū
and have embraced
אֲחֵרִ֔ים
’ă·ḥê·rîm
other
בֵּאלֹהִ֣ים
bê·lō·hîm
gods ,
וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲו֥וּ
way·yiš·ta·ḥă·wū
worshiping
לָהֶ֖ם
lā·hem
וַיַּֽעַבְד֑וּם
way·ya·‘aḇ·ḏūm
and serving them —
עַל־
‘al-
because of
כֵּן֙
kên
this ,
הֵבִ֣יא
hê·ḇî
He has brought
כָּל־
kāl-
all
הַזֹּֽאת׃פ
haz·zōṯ
this
הָרָעָ֖ה
hā·rā·‘āh
disaster
עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם
‘ă·lê·hem
upon them . ’”
