תַחֲנוּנֵ֖י
ṯa·ḥă·nū·nê
and begging for mercy ,
כִּ֤י

because
הֶעֱוּוּ֙
he·‘ĕw·wū
they have perverted
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
דַּרְכָּ֔ם
dar·kām
their ways
שָׁכְח֖וּ
šā·ḵə·ḥū
[and] forgotten
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
יְהֹוָ֥ה
Yah·weh
the LORD
אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃
’ĕ·lō·hê·hem
their God .
22 “Return, O faithless children, and I will heal your faithlessness.” “Here we are. We come to You, for You are the LORD our God.

O faithless
בָּנִ֣ים

children ,
אֶרְפָּ֖ה

[and] I will heal
מְשׁוּבֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם
mə·šū·ḇō·ṯê·ḵem
your faithlessness . ”

We come
לָ֔ךְ

to You ,

You
יְהֹוָ֥ה
Yah·weh
are the LORD
אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃
’ĕ·lō·hê·nū
our God .
23 Surely deception comes from the hills, and commotion from the mountains. Surely the salvation of Israel is in the LORD our God.

מִגְּבָע֖וֹת

[comes from] the hills ,

[and] commotion

from the mountains .
אָכֵן֙
’ā·ḵên
Surely
תְּשׁוּעַ֖ת
tə·šū·‘aṯ
the salvation
יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
yiś·rā·’êl
of Israel
בַּיהֹוָ֣ה
Yah·weh
is in the LORD
אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ
’ĕ·lō·hê·nū
our God .
24 From our youth, that shameful god has consumed what our fathers have worked for—their flocks and herds, their sons and daughters.
מִנְּעוּרֵ֑ינוּ

From our youth ,
אֶת־
’eṯ-

וְהַבֹּ֗שֶׁת
wə·hab·bō·šeṯ
that shameful [god]
אָֽכְלָ֛ה
’ā·ḵə·lāh
has consumed
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
אֲבוֹתֵ֖ינוּ
’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·nū
what our fathers
יְגִ֥יעַ
yə·ḡî·a‘
have worked for —
צֹאנָם֙
ṣō·nām
their flocks
וְאֶת־
wə·’eṯ-
-
בְּקָרָ֔ם
bə·qā·rām
and herds ,
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
בְּנֵיהֶ֖ם
bə·nê·hem
their sons
וְאֶת־
wə·’eṯ-
-
בְּנוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃
bə·nō·w·ṯê·hem
and daughters .
25 Let us lie down in our shame; let our disgrace cover us. We have sinned against the LORD our God, both we and our fathers; from our youth even to this day we have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.”
