1 How lonely lies the city, once so full of people! She who was great among the nations has become a widow. The princess of the provinces has become a slave.

one to comfort

All
אֹ֨יְבַ֜י
’ō·yə·ḇay
my enemies
שָׁמְע֤וּ
šā·mə·‘ū
have heard
רָֽעָתִי֙
rā·‘ā·ṯî
of my trouble ;
שָׂ֔שׂוּ
śā·śū
they are glad
כִּ֥י

that
אַתָּ֖ה
’at·tāh
You
עָשִׂ֑יתָ
‘ā·śî·ṯā
have caused it .
הֵבֵ֥אתָ
hê·ḇê·ṯā
May You bring
יוֹם־
yō·wm-
the day
קָרָ֖אתָ
qā·rā·ṯā
You have announced ,
וְיִֽהְי֥וּ
wə·yih·yū
so that they may become
כָמֽוֹנִי׃ס
ḵā·mō·w·nî
like me .
22 Let all their wickedness come before You, and deal with them as You have dealt with me because of all my transgressions. For my groans are many, and my heart is faint.

You have dealt

with me
עַ֣ל
‘al
because of
כָּל־
kāl-
all
פְּשָׁעָ֑י
pə·šā·‘āy
my transgressions .
כִּֽי־
kî-
For
אַנְחֹתַ֖י
’an·ḥō·ṯay
my groans
רַבּ֥וֹת
rab·bō·wṯ
are many ,
וְלִבִּ֥י
wə·lib·bî
and my heart
דַוָּֽי׃פ
ḏaw·wāy
is faint .
