20 You even took the sons and daughters you bore to Me and sacrificed them as food to idols. Was your prostitution not enough?

וְשַׁלְוַ֣ת
wə·šal·waṯ
. . . ;
לֹ֥א

they did not
הֶחֱזִֽיקָה׃
he·ḥĕ·zî·qāh
help
עָנִ֥י
‘ā·nî
the poor
וְאֶבְי֖וֹן
wə·’eḇ·yō·wn
and needy .
50 Thus they were haughty and committed abominations before Me. Therefore I removed them, as you have seen.
וַֽתִּגְבְּהֶ֔ינָה
wat·tiḡ·bə·he·nāh
Thus they were haughty
וַתַּעֲשֶׂ֥ינָה
wat·ta·‘ă·śe·nāh
and committed
תוֹעֵבָ֖ה
ṯō·w·‘ê·ḇāh
abominations
לְפָנָ֑י
lə·p̄ā·nāy
before Me .
וָאָסִ֥יר
wā·’ā·sîr
Therefore I removed
אֶתְהֶ֖ן
’eṯ·hen
them ,
כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר
ka·’ă·šer
as
רָאִֽיתִי׃ס
rā·’î·ṯî
you have seen .
51 Furthermore, Samaria did not commit half the sins you did. You have multiplied your abominations beyond theirs, and all the abominations you have committed have made your sisters appear righteous.

beyond theirs ,
בְּכָל־

and all
תּוֹעֲבוֹתַ֖יִךְ
tō·w·‘ă·ḇō·w·ṯa·yiḵ
the abominations
אֲשֶׁ֥ר

עָשִׂיתי׃
ʿå̄·śī·ṯ
you have committed
אֲחוֹתֵךְ
ʾă·ḥō·ṯēḵ
have made your sisters
וַתְּצַדְּקִי֙
wat·tə·ṣad·də·qî
appear righteous
אֶת־
’eṯ-

52 So now you must bear your disgrace, since you have brought justification for your sisters. For they appear more righteous than you, because your sins were more vile than theirs. So you too must bear your shame and disgrace, since you have made your sisters appear righteous.

for your sisters .
תִּצְדַּ֣קְנָה

For they appear more righteous
מִמֵּ֑ךְ

than you ,
בְּחַטֹּאתַ֛יִךְ
bə·ḥaṭ·ṭō·ṯa·yiḵ
because your sins
אֲשֶׁר־
’ă·šer-
-
הִתְעַ֥בְתְּ
hiṯ·‘aḇt
were more vile
מֵהֵ֖ן
mê·hên
than theirs .
אַ֥תְּ
’at
So you
וְגַם־
wə·ḡam-
too
וּשְׂאִ֣י
ū·śə·’î
must bear
בּ֙וֹשִׁי֙
bō·wō·šî
your shame
כְלִמָּתֵ֔ךְ
ḵə·lim·mā·ṯêḵ
and disgrace ,
אַחְיוֹתֵֽךְ׃
’aḥ·yō·w·ṯêḵ
since you have made your sisters
בְּצַדֶּקְתֵּ֖ךְ
bə·ṣad·deq·têḵ
appear righteous .
53 But I will restore Sodom and her daughters from captivity, as well as Samaria and her daughters. And I will restore you along with them.
וְשַׁבְתִּי֙

But I will restore

šə·ḇīṯ

סְדֹם֙

Sodom
וּבְנוֹתֶ֔יהָ

and her daughters

šə·ḇî·ṯə·hen
from captivity ,
וְאֶת־
wə·’eṯ-
-
שְׁבִית
šə·ḇīṯ
as well as
שֹׁמְר֖וֹן
šō·mə·rō·wn
Samaria
וּבְנוֹתֶ֑יהָ
ū·ḇə·nō·w·ṯe·hā
and her daughters .
וּשְׁבִית
ū·šə·ḇīṯ
And I will restore you
שְׁבִיתַ֖יִךְ
šə·ḇî·ṯa·yiḵ
. . .
בְּתוֹכָֽהְנָה׃
bə·ṯō·w·ḵā·hə·nāh
along with them .
54 So you will bear your disgrace and be ashamed of all you did to comfort them.

you will bear
כְלִמָּתֵ֔ךְ

your disgrace
וְנִכְלַ֕מְתְּ

and be ashamed

of all
אֲשֶׁ֣ר

עָשִׂ֑ית
‘ā·śîṯ
you did
בְּנַחֲמֵ֖ךְ
bə·na·ḥă·mêḵ
to comfort them
אֹתָֽן׃
’ō·ṯān
- .
55 And your sisters, Sodom with her daughters and Samaria with her daughters, will return to their former state. You and your daughters will also return to your former state.
וַאֲחוֹתַ֗יִךְ
wa·’ă·ḥō·w·ṯa·yiḵ
And your sisters ,
סְדֹ֤ם

Sodom
וּבְנוֹתֶ֙יהָ֙
ū·ḇə·nō·w·ṯe·hā
with her daughters
וְשֹֽׁמְרוֹן֙
wə·šō·mə·rō·wn
and Samaria
וּבְנוֹתֶ֔יהָ
ū·ḇə·nō·w·ṯe·hā
with her daughters ,
תָּשֹׁ֣בְןָ
tā·šō·ḇə·nā
will return
לְקַדְמָתָ֔ן
lə·qaḏ·mā·ṯān
to their former state .
וְאַתְּ֙
wə·’at
You
וּבְנוֹתַ֔יִךְ
ū·ḇə·nō·w·ṯa·yiḵ
and your daughters
תְּשֻׁבֶ֖ינָה
tə·šu·ḇe·nāh
. . .
לְקַדְמַתְכֶֽן׃
lə·qaḏ·maṯ·ḵen
. . .
תָּשֹׁ֖בְןָ
tā·šō·ḇə·nā
will also return
לְקַדְמָתָ֑ן

to your former state .
56 Did you not treat your sister Sodom as an object of scorn in the day of your pride,

Did you not

בְּפִ֑יךְ

as an object of scorn

in the day

of your pride ,
57 before your wickedness was uncovered? Even so, you are now scorned by the daughters of Edom and all those around her, and by the daughters of the Philistines—all those around you who despise you.

by the daughters

of Edom
וְכָל־
wə·ḵāl
and all
סְבִיבוֹתֶ֖יהָ
sə·ḇî·ḇō·w·ṯe·hā
those around her ,
בְּנ֣וֹת
bə·nō·wṯ
and by the daughters
פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים
pə·liš·tîm
of the Philistines —
מִסָּבִֽיב׃
mis·sā·ḇîḇ
all those around you
הַשָּׁאט֥וֹת
haš·šā·ṭō·wṯ
who despise
אוֹתָ֖ךְ
’ō·w·ṯāḵ
you .
58 You will bear the consequences of your lewdness and your abominations, declares the LORD.

זִמָּתֵ֥ךְ

of your lewdness

your abominations ,
נְאֻ֖ם

declares
יְהוָֽה׃ס
Yah·weh
the LORD .
59 For this is what the Lord GOD says: I will deal with you according to your deeds, since you have despised the oath by breaking the covenant.

the oath

by breaking
בְּרִֽית׃

the covenant .
60 But I will remember the covenant I made with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.

will remember
בְּרִיתִ֛י

the covenant

I made with you

in the days
נְעוּרָ֑יִךְ

and I will establish
עוֹלָֽם׃
‘ō·w·lām
an everlasting covenant
לָ֖ךְ

with you .
61 Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you receive your older and younger sisters. I will give them to you as daughters, but not because of My covenant with you.

Then you will remember

דְּרָכַיִךְ֮

your ways
וְנִכְלַמְתְּ֒

and be ashamed

when you receive

הַגְּדֹל֣וֹת
hag·gə·ḏō·lō·wṯ
your older
אֶל־
’el-
and
מִמֵּ֔ךְ
mim·mêḵ
הַקְּטַנּ֖וֹת
haq·qə·ṭan·nō·wṯ
younger
מִמֵּ֑ךְ
mim·mêḵ

וְנָתַתִּ֨י

I will give

as daughters ,

מִבְּרִיתֵֽךְ׃

My covenant with you .
62 So I will establish My covenant with you, and you will know that I am the LORD,

וַהֲקִימוֹתִ֥י
wa·hă·qî·mō·w·ṯî
will establish
בְּרִיתִ֖י
bə·rî·ṯî
My covenant
אִתָּ֑ךְ
’it·tāḵ
with you ,
וְיָדַ֖עַתְּ
wə·yā·ḏa·‘at
and you will know
כִּֽי־
kî-
that
אֲנִ֥י
’ă·nî
I
יְהוָֽה׃
Yah·weh
am the LORD ,
63 so that when I make atonement for all you have done, you will remember and be ashamed and never again open your mouth because of your disgrace, declares the Lord GOD.”
