You adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

If you were of the world, the world would love his own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier.

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God stays for ever.

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Stand fast therefore in the liberty with which Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Be you not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness?

Why come out from among them, and be you separate, said the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

Be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the middle of wolves: be you therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
