He promised on oath
לְאַבְרָהָ֥ם
lə·’aḇ·rā·hām
to Abraham ,
לְיִצְחָ֖ק
lə·yiṣ·ḥāq
Isaac ,
וּֽלְיַעֲקֹֽב׃
ū·lə·ya·‘ă·qōḇ
and Jacob . ”
25 And Joseph made the sons of Israel take an oath and said, “God will surely attend to you, and then you must carry my bones up from this place.”

And Joseph
אֶת־
’eṯ-

בְּנֵ֥י

made the sons
יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל
yiś·rā·’êl
of Israel
וַיַּשְׁבַּ֣ע
way·yaš·ba‘
take an oath
לֵאמֹ֑ר
lê·mōr
and said ,
אֱלֹהִים֙
’ĕ·lō·hîm
“ God
פָּקֹ֨ד
pā·qōḏ
will surely attend to
יִפְקֹ֤ד
yip̄·qōḏ
. . .
אֶתְכֶ֔ם
’eṯ·ḵem
you ,
וְהַעֲלִתֶ֥ם
wə·ha·‘ă·li·ṯem
and then you must carry
עַצְמֹתַ֖י
‘aṣ·mō·ṯay
my bones
אֶת־
’eṯ-
מִזֶּֽה׃
miz·zeh
up from this place . ”
26 So Joseph died at the age of 110. And they embalmed his body and placed it in a coffin in Egypt.

And they embalmed

[his body]
וַיִּ֥ישֶׂם
way·yî·śem
and placed it
בָּאָר֖וֹן
bā·’ā·rō·wn
in a coffin
בְּמִצְרָֽיִם׃
bə·miṣ·rā·yim
in Egypt .
